Welcome to the*WOMEN RISING* Meet The Authors series.
I am honoured that these women chose to join me on this journey and share their stories. I would like to introduce you to some of the amazing humans that you will connect with as you flip through the pages of this book...
What is Women Rising?
It is a book written for YOU. A safe space to land where you will feel safe, heard & validated in ALL your feelings and experiences. Here, we will remind you that you are not alone when the world feels heavy & that you are capable of rising above even when life gets hard. Obstacles are inevitable, growth it optional. The ability to see it that way - is beautiful.
Meet Monica.
Hey I’m Monica! I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband of 21 years and our fur baby. The last few years I’ve been on a healing and self discovery journey. I’ve survived cancer while being treated through covid. I learned to take care of myself mind, body and soul. I left the corporate world and I’m now a very happy assistant to an amazing female entrepreneur.
What inspired you to apply to the Women Rising co-author project?
I wanted to share my story to bring awareness to cervical cancer. I didn’t know much about it before my diagnosis and I soon found out other women didn’t really know much either. This is one type of cancer that could be eliminated one day so women need to get informed. Knowledge is power!
What's something you learned about yourself through writing?
That I could write so much more but it would have to be a novel lol! I realize that I am capable of accomplishing so much more in life and that a dream can become a reality when you truly believe in yourself.
What do you hope readers walk way with after reading your chapter in Women Rising?
I hope they put their health first and if there’s any female health questions they need answered that it’s ok to speak up. Don’t feel embarrassed. Be your #1 health advocate!
As a woman dedicated to Rising, what advice you would give someone that is currently struggling or going through some hard things? What could you tell her to support her in rising above?
It might sound cliche but I would tell her she’s not alone and that we are only given what we can handle. She should take one day at a time or even one minute at a time but to never stop fighting and she will come out on top stronger than she could have ever imagined.
