Welcome to the*WOMEN RISING* Meet The Authors series.
I am honoured that these women chose to join me on this journey and share their stories. I would like to introduce you to some of the amazing humans that you will connect with as you flip through the pages of this book...
What is Women Rising?
It is a book written for YOU. A safe space to land where you will feel safe, heard & validated in ALL your feelings and experiences. Here, we will remind you that you are not alone when the world feels heavy & that you are capable of rising above even when life gets hard. Obstacles are inevitable, growth it optional. The ability to see it that way - is beautiful.
Ashley is recipe creator, fitness enthusiast and influencer with a master's degree in nutrition. She's worked with clients across North America for over a decade, and enjoys educating and inspiring others to make healthier lifestyle changes. If she's not getting creative in the kitchen, she's enjoying moments with her family, friends, husband and fur babies.
What inspired you to apply to the Women Rising co-author project?
I always knew had a story to tell, but it scared me to talk about it. A collaborative project seemed like the perfect fit. This was not only a wonderful opportunity to share my story, but it was also a chance to support others in the process. Being in this community of women has touched me beyond words. Vicky and I had a previous connection before this book started, and I knew she would be an excellent leader for a project like this. The stars all seemed to align!
What's something you learned about yourself through writing?
That trying to share a difficult and emotional story is extremely hard. It's a messy and unpredictable process, especially when these experiences are not something I've talked about in depth with anyone. It's one thing to commit to a project like this, but another to actually put it into words and complete. Talking about myself has always been a challenge. Going through the emotions of getting it on paper and actually completing it makes me respect authors even more.
What do you hope readers walk way with after reading your chapter in Women Rising?
Ultimately I just want to help others and offer a different perspective. If I can change just one person's life or encourage them to take another path, this was all worth it. What I shared is heavier than even I expected, but it's real. My chapter will hopefully inspire and educate others, and give them the courage to steer their life in a more positive direction.
As a woman dedicated to Rising, what advice you would give someone that is currently struggling or going through some hard things? What could you tell her to support her in rising above?
That even when you're in the darkest most unimaginable place, there is hope. It may take longer than you wanted it to, but you can overcome these struggles. I won't tell you it's easy, but it is possible. Fighting for yourself and your life should never be put on the back burner!
